Aimed at students, Windows 10 S is a streamlined version of the operating system that is restricted to running apps from the Microsoft Store. From the images Microsoft has provided so far, it seems like users will then be able to use their fingerprint to approve Windows device sign-ins.

Windows Security improvements: The Windows Defender section in the Settings app has been redesigned and renamed "Windows Security".


In preview release 17093, available to folks enrolled in the Windows Insider early-access and feedback program, Microsoft is making it possible for users to go password-free for themselves.

Microsoft Edge improvements: After entering the full-screen mode (F11 key), you can now access the address bar by just hovering your mouse at the top of the screen. The browser also gains the ability to print "certain types of webpages" in a clutter-free mode without ads and other unnecessary page elements.

The Touch Keyboard now helps multilingual text provider, indicating you don't have to manually change languages and predictions will show up from multiple languages.

If you don't want to go all Windows Insidery, you can already get most of these perks from desktop Chrome already, and Apple's WebKit engine which powers Safari is in the process of adding the necessary tech to support PWAs as well.
