Tongan flag bearer once again marches at Opening Ceremony shirtless

Last night, 34-year-old Tongan Olympic athlete Pita Taufatofua repeated his schtick from the 2016 Rio Summer Games by serving as Tonga's shirtless, oiled up flag-bearer.

The Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, the first Games held in South Korea in 30 years, officially opened on Friday with fireworks, song and symbolism featured amid celebrations of light, peace, and harmony.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Taufatofua was eliminated in his opening round by Iranian athlete Sajjad Mardani.

Taufatofua's cross-country skiing adventure may only be a brief interlude before he refocuses on taekwondo, a sport that has given him six broken bones, three torn ligaments and hundreds of hours of rehabilitation. Expect Taufatofua to be dressed warmly while competing. "But, you know, it's just an honor".

"Most of my training was on roller skis [short skis on wheels], which don't have brakes", he says. "We had to mimic being on snow while not being on snow", he said. "And so we end up driving for two days trying to get through this blizzard".

Taufatofua has again caused a buzz, this time by patriotically taking his shirt off and braving the frigid temperatures at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony.

The Games kicked off with qualifying rounds earlier this week.

"I want to make sure that I can at least make it to my race and that I'm not frozen to death, so I have to stay warm at the opening ceremony".

Pita Taufatofua is going to keep making dreams come true, shirtless whenever possible.

Any medals won by the OAR athletes will be greeted by the Olympic anthem rather than the familiar "Gimn Rossiiskoi Federatsii".

I won't freeze. I am from Tonga.
